Morphology
The aim of the course is to provide a description of both
derivational and inflectional processes which enable us to form
words. We shall examine the internal structure of word-formation,
and to introduce some of the important concepts in the domain of
morphology by illustrating their application to English word
structure. The course also aims at elucidating certain principles
that apply to the structure of words in other language.
Oral Proficiency (B)
The ultimate objective of the course is to reinforce and to
improve the oral communicative aspect of language use. Students
should acquire the necessary tools to express themselves orally and
accurately about any suggested topic. The course will also expose
students to intensive discussion of universally controversial subjects
such as Euthanasia, Censorship, Abortion, Cosmetic, Surgery and
Cloning.

English Syntax
The objective of the course is twofold: to study some of the

syntactic structures found in English and to see how linguists
approach the study of syntax. The course will scrutinize the
differences between well-formed and ill-formed structures. It will
also deal with relationships between different structures. Moreover,
the course focuses upon relationships between syntactic structures
and meanings.

Students will be provided with explanations of the basic concepts
and recent theoretical ideas of syntactic structures. Eventually, the
course will provide students with the necessary tools for
understanding and applying the foundational concepts of English
syntax.
