Grammar
This course addresses the three dimensions of language form,

meaning, and use – ensuring that students not only learn to form
grammatical structures, but are also able to use them meaningfully
and appropriately. It expands students’ knowledge of the grammar
of English, as it is understood in light of contemporary linguistic
theory. Moreover, it fosters a positive attitude toward grammar. In
brief, students gain an understanding of the formal, semantic and
pragmatic aspects of the English language by using grammatical
and syntactical rules effectively and correctly.

Introduction to Modern British and American Short Fiction
The course aims at enabling students to have contact with the

best thoughts, the greatest minds and works, i.e., literature of
people who speak English and as a result learn and develop their
own sense of beauty, intellectual comprehension, high faculty and
imagination. Moreover, the course will expose students to other
cultural patterns and train students to understand and tolerate
other critical literary perspectives.

Reading Comprehension
The course will provide students with the opportunity to

practice reading of texts which are similar to those in their sources.
It will also provide students with basic vocabulary useful in coping
