Pedagogical Grammar
   The course is designed to provide students with an

understanding of the formal, semantic and pragmatic aspects of the
English language by exploring teaching practices and lessons or
materials that are based on English grammar. The course will
demonstrate a positive awareness of the importance and complexity
of language with special reference to English language. Finally, it
will foster attitudes of confidence in approaching linguistic analysis
and confidence in one’s ability to carry out effective and productive
lessons.

First & Second Language Acquisition
   This course is designed to gain insights into the second language

acquisition /learning processes through an examination of research
findings. Moreover, students will develop an ability to analyze
learner language and devise teaching strategies accordingly.
Students will recognize and accept diversity of learning styles and
other learner characteristics, and to become more aware of the
complexity of the language acquisition process and of language
learners. Moreover, the course will train students to become more
aware of the differences and similarities between first and second
language processes.

Style and Composition

   The ultimate aim of the course is to enhance and reinforce
students’ communicative writing ability and oral proficiency. They
will be gradually introduced to the fundamentals of academic
writing so that they themselves will produce segments of guided
