paper according to the MLA citation format.
English and American Poetry
This course is intended to give students a balance of classic and
contemporary, English and American works dealing with universal
themes. It aspires to present the basic elements of poetry in a
progression in which each new topic is based on what has preceded
it. The emphasis is put on how students as readers can use these
elements of poetry, to interpret and to respond to it correctly, why
the poet uses these elements and what values they have for both the
students and the poet. Some critical theories will be given for the
purpose of giving the students something to use in order to
understand poetry and its components such as rhythm, rhyme,
symbols, images, and figurative languages.
Oral Proficiency (C)
The rationale of the course is enhancing students’ skills of
communication. They are expected to express themselves about
highly complex and unpredictable topics in terms of examining
their functional – notional approach to language use. Students are
expected to address increasingly complex topics such as
“Abortion”, “Euthanasia” and “The Function of the Press as a
Democratic Tool of Communication”.
Advanced English Grammar
The objective of the course is to enable students to develop their
own grammatical abilities through the correct use of appropriate
