Rationale
The M.Ed. program in teaching English aims at developing the
personal and professional skills of English teachers and graduates.
The program is also committed to excellence in the preparation of
teachers’ participation in relevant research and other scholarly
activities leading to the advancement of knowledge and good
practice in the teaching and learning processes. It will also qualify
teachers who can lead a meaningful social and academic change in
the Arab society in Israel. The Arab education system is still
heavily reliant on repetition and rote learning. Pupils، in this
system، are still considered passive participants in the learning
process. Their notoriously low achievement on both the Mitzav
and the Bagrut tests has hindered their social and economic
mobility and deprived them of competing for scarce economic and
educational resources and opportunities. Playing a pivotal role in
effecting the desired change within the Arab society in Israel، Al-
Qasemi Academy has always strived to promote a more advanced
course of study، which will enable its graduates to become effective
